Nicole Waxman
Counsel
Wego Chemical Group
Nicole Waxman is honored in this special edition episode of Woman of the Week to announce that we received our 501(c)3 Non-profit Charitable Organization determination from the IRS. Nicole is currently the Counsel at Wego Chemical Group and we’re excited to introduce her to our community. Nicole has championed for Women in Chemicals behind the scenes consulting, advising and assisting every step along the way of our incorporation process and advocated for Wego to fiscally sponsor the substantial costs associated with Women in Chemical’s incorporation and IRS determination.
Nicole started her legal career as a Corporate Attorney at Winston & Strawn LLP. She worked in this role for four years before deciding to join her family’s business, Wego Chemical Group, in the legal function. Nicole discussed how her career shift was at a time in her life when she was looking to prioritize starting a family. In discussing finding balance, she encouraged us to be confident in making decisions and prioritizing what is right for us and our families. She reminded us that finding balance for ourselves is personal and that everyone’s circumstances are different and ever changing.
Nicole mentioned the impact that companies can have on their employees by bringing a spirit of humanity into the workplace. She shares an anecdote of a boss from her Corporate law experience who acknowledged and supported her desire to prioritize her family despite her demanding job. When asked who the most influential women in her life have been, Nicole quickly notes her Mom and her Grandmother, who have both always supported and encouraged her professional career while equally instilling familial and cultural values. In wrapping up, Nicole encourages our community to take time for ourselves. She says, “we as individuals also need attention and need to do things that make us the best versions of ourselves”
