This week, Amelia and Kylie sat down to quickly catch up with Christine Morris, Director of Sales at Safety-Kleen, a Clean Harbors Company. Christine comes to use with 15 years in the chemicals industry and an educational background in Math and Electrical Engineering. We talked with Christine about unconscious biases that might exist in the heavily male dominated chemicals industry, and how important it is to speak up and create opportunities for women to be able to speak up.
“There are enough seats at the table for all of us.”
We talked a bit about how important it is for women to support each other on their career journeys in partnership together, and how to break the perception of intense competition some women may feel due to their believing only few women can sit at the table. When asked about advice, Christine shared with us the value she has found in reaching out to other women during tough times, because chances are they have experienced similar situations and/or are always willing to support. She closed up our interview with a few mottos she lives by, one of which was “If not you, then who? If not now, when?”
