Jenna Ngian

Key Account Manager - CASE

Wego Chemical Group

Please meet this week’s WOTW, Jenna Ngian. Jenna has 26 years in the chemical industry, and how she entered is very unique. On a 6 hour flight home from Beijing, she met a man sitting next to her that worked for DuPont and left with his business card. Eventually, that man would become her boss! Jenna started her career as a mechanical engineer working for Otis on their elevator buttons, then went on to wear many hats in marketing, operations, six sigma, supply chain, sales, and more. Today, Jenna is the Key Account Manager for the CASE Industry at Wego Chemical.

When asked about her favorite role, she told us that sales is what brings her the most fulfillment and ignites her passions. Jenna enjoys solving problems and getting involved with cross functional teams in order to do that. When asked about her biggest learnings, she shared with us her most challenging role as a supply chain leader at a manufacturing plant. While challenging, Jenna was pushed to "speed learn" about so many aspects to running a business, such as safety, regulations, logistics, and so much more. While perhaps painful at times, these challenges fuel her success today.

Jenna shared with us the changes she's experienced while in the industry for 26 years. She told us that her male colleagues have been some of her best resources throughout her career. Her advice to us here was to be assertive but not aggressive, and to learn the difference between the two. When asked for her insights, Jenna shared with us that we all own our own career paths, and we cannot solely rely on our leaders and bosses to determine our professional growth. We should ask for training and development opportunities. Jenna closed with an important reminder for us all; in life, we are all people at the end of the day. Maintain your humanity and try to put yourself in other's shoes.
