Vickie joins our Women in Chemicals community with an extremely unique career journey, ultimately leading her to her well deserved role as Director of Procurement for specialty chemicals distributor Norman, Fox & Co. As a Director, Vickie shared with us the skills she has found valuable in order to best manager her team. We talked about how it’s important to acknowledge that everyone works differently and requires support in different ways.

When asked about her experiences in a male dominated industry, Vickie’s key message was always to show up and to maker your voice heard. We talked a bit about how motivating it can be to see other women in your corner with you seated at the table, and what we can do to keep women there.

Vickie got real with us when asked about her work-life balance as a mother with young children, acknowledging that what most might consider “balance” is not a reality for some, and that is just fine. Life is messy and you learn from it; you show tenacity when faced with challenges. This same tenacity is what Vickie closed our interview with, sharing with us how important it is to work hard, have a voice, be proud, and to help other women to do the same.
