Introducing this week's WOTW, Gayle Mitalski. Gayle has nearly 40 years in the chemicals industry, working with Ferro and Royal Chemical. Today, Gayle is honored to be part owner of Royal Chemical's parent company, Chemical Service Group (CSG). Gayle celebrates her 27th anniversary today, September 7th with Royal Chemical!

Gayle had mentorship and support from women leaders early in her career. She started in the Lab at Ferro in 1985. While working with Ferro, she had two sons, and by the time they were in Kindergarten, Gayle was eager to find a role that offered more flexibility to align with her family's schedules. It was during this time that Gayle landed on Royal Chemical, working in the analytical lab. Today, Gayle has experiences in ISO certification, quality and plant management, customer service management, sales, and now digital marketing for the company!

We talked about the confidence Gayle carries in herself, and how she has handled some of the more male dominated environments she has worked in throughout her career such as plant management for example. When asked about industry changes and evolution, Gayle talked to us about how she has seen noticeable changes in female representation at industry events. She also talked a bit about how some inappropriate behaviors that once were considered so commonplace in the industry are becoming less apparent today.

We wrapped up with some discussion around the evolution of digital marketing, especially during COVID, and how advantageous it can be if adapted more in the chemicals industry. Gayle left us with some guidance; "Be the best that you can be, even when it's not your job and not your responsibility. The reward will always come."
